Places: 6 men & 6 ladies Description: We will play two games of bowling, swapping teams after the first game so that eveyone gets to meet everyone. This evening will surely reveal who has a competitive streak! How it went: The bowling went great and most of us went on to a quiet bar after!
Date: Sunday 19th February 2023 Places: 9 men & 9 ladies Description: This Valentine's weekend I have planned a lovely daytrip for us to visit Doolin Caves, followed by lunch in Doolin and a sunset walk on the beach at Fanore. How it went: The cave tour was excellent and enjoyed by all. Afterwards we went for lunch in McDermotts in Doolin and had a good chat. Lastly was the sunset walk on the beach...except there was no sun; just drizzle, and a lot of wind! We just stayed half an hour at Fanore. Hoping for a bit of sunshine for the next day trip!
Date: Saturday 11th February 2023
Places: 8 men & 8 ladies Description: A table for 16 is booked at the Galway City Distillery Bar. This is a contemporary trendy bar right in the city centre with an interesting drinks menu of unique cocktails and beverages made on site at the distillery. How it went: Ice-breakers were not needed at all as everyone was ready to chat straight away! Half way through the evening the men changed tables so everyone got to chat with everyone. The bar closed at 11pm but we were not ready to go home; so 13 of us went on to McSwiggans bar for another hour or two!  Date: Saturday 4th February 2023
Places: 8 men & 8 ladies Description: Two tables are booked for 12 people next Saturday at Kashmir Restaurant. The guys will change seats after each course so that everyone gets to chat to everyone! How it went: Although tickets fully sold out, we had two no-shows; one guy and one lady. This happens occasionally but not too often! We used conversation topic cards to break the ice and everyone had a lovely dinner. The men changed seats after the appetisers to ensure that everyone got to chat with everyone. Twelve of us went on to Keoghs Bar afterwards and everyone was chatting away. It is great to see strangers at the start of the event deep in conversation by the end of it! - Caroline  Date: Friday 20th January 2023
Places: 12 men & 12 ladies Description: We have a unique speed-dating evening planned at the Silent Cinema, combined with black & white silent movies and live piano accompaniment. Speed dating always turns out to be great fun, even for those who were feeling a bit nervous about attending alone. There will be plenty of chatter and buzz in the room once the 5-minute dates begin! How it went: It was a full room of 23 people, 12 ladies and 11 men. We watched half an hour of silent movies, accompanied on piano by Desiree. Then we did 12 rounds of speed dating which took about 1.5 hours with a break in the middle. All the talking had everyone thirsty but everyone had a great night. Lots of positive feedback! There were 18 matches, which were sent out by text message the following day. Places: 9 men & 9 ladies Description: We will play two games of bowling, ladies versus men, and see which team wins. This evening will surely reveal who has a competitive streak! How it went: We had a full house of 18 people on three lanes. Top score was 113 from one of the guys. Lets see if anyone can beat it next time! Places: 8 men & 8 ladies Description: Your host, Caroline, will greet you at "the snug" in the House Hotel bar. It is a cosy space with sofas where you can order a drink (tea, coffee, wine, beer etc.) We will give each group easy activities to break the ice and we will have you laughing with eachother in no time! How it went: The evening went so well and positive feedback was received from everyone. Some said that they were very nervous coming alone but it was easier than they expected to get chatting to others. We start off with conversation cards so you have an activity as soon as you settle in your seat! About half of the attendees went out together for drinks after the event and enjoyed the rest of the night out together. I enjoyed meeting so many lovely easy-going people; it was a pleasure to host the evening. - Caroline |
